Frequently Asked Questions > Finances > How will these fields be paid for?

  • The project is being paid for through a unique public-private partnership, using town funds, community preservation funds, and private donations.
  • Two articles at the April, 2007 Concord Town Meeting provided the public funds for the project:
    • Passage of Article 30 allowed the Town Manager to allocate $1.5 million from existing town funds for the project
    • Passage of Article 32 allowed the Community Preservation Committee to allocate $1.5 million of CPA funding for the project
  • The balance of project costs would be paid from private funds that are being raised by Friends of Concord-Carlisle Playing Fields.  Nearly $2 million in private funds are being raised to match the $3 million in public funds committed for this overall 6-field project.  To date, we've raised over $1.2 million from a small number of donors who live in Concord and Carlisle, and we're just beginning the public phase of our fundraising.  The level of personal philanthropy has been outstanding and is exceeding our expectations.
