Friends of Concord-Carlisle Playing Fields

Why not “turf” the High School football field? There is already lighting and grandstands at the football field. Why not put the synthetic surface there and save some of the open space behind the High School?

• We support the future turfing of the football field as a separate project
• But turfing the football field would only provide 20% of the capacity of building a new synthetic multi-purpose field – this is not enough.
• The Regional School Committee sees this field as the High School’s “premiere” field, the preferred venue for any High School event. The School Committee would not be able to cede access to this space to the Town of Concord during nights and weekends as is the case for the new artificial turf fields.
