Frequently Asked Questions > The Need > Aren’t there enough fields at the High School?

  • Most of the school’s current fields are in low lying areas prone to flooding. No teams were able to practice outdoors until two weeks into the season. This is not a rare occurrence.
  • Students have to walk to Emerson Field, during which they are not under the direct supervision of coaches
  • Even including Emerson Field usage, overcrowding varsity, junior varsity and freshmen teams onto under-sized fields runs the risk of injury to players and greatly diminishes the ability to practice and prepare effectively
  • There is no field time available for intramural sports, so unless students are successful in making the JV or varsity teams, it is quite likely their years of playing soccer, softball or other sports will be over – before they have even graduated from High School!
